Longevity Medicine for South Texas
The diagnostics your local system doesn't offer. Three hours north.
Valincare is a physician-led longevity clinic in San Antonio's South Texas Medical Center. We serve patients from McAllen, Edinburg, Harlingen, Brownsville, Laredo, and across the Rio Grande Valley who want earlier risk detection, serious preventive strategy, and care that goes far beyond a standard physical.
What we measure that your annual physical doesn't
Cardiovascular Risk — Beyond Cholesterol
ApoB, Lp(a), coronary calcium scoring, and advanced lipid analysis. Standard panels miss the biomarkers that actually predict heart attacks. A 2019 Cochrane review of 250,000 participants found conventional annual physicals don't reduce cardiovascular mortality. We look deeper.
Body Composition — Beyond BMI
DEXA scanning measures visceral fat, lean tissue, and bone density with precision BMI cannot touch. In the UK Biobank study, higher visceral adiposity was associated with a 46% increase in cardiovascular mortality — independent of BMI. Two people at the same weight can have profoundly different risk profiles.
Physiological Reserve — Beyond "Normal"
VO₂ max is the single strongest predictor of all-cause mortality in the medical literature. Stronger than smoking, hypertension, or coronary artery disease. A JAMA Network Open study of over 750,000 veterans confirmed that low cardiorespiratory fitness carried greater mortality risk than any traditional risk factor. Almost no one measures it.
Why patients drive from the Valley
The Rio Grande Valley has strong hospital systems for acute care. But advanced preventive diagnostics — VO₂ max testing, DEXA body composition, epigenetic age analysis, whole-body MRI, neurocognitive baseline testing — aren't widely available south of San Antonio. Neither is the physician time to interpret them in context.
A standard executive physical at a major health system gives you a checklist. Valincare gives you a Dossier: a physician-synthesized portrait of your biological risk, functional reserve, and the specific interventions that make sense for your body — not a generic recommendation sheet.
San Antonio is approximately 3.5 hours from McAllen, 3 hours from Laredo, and 4 hours from Brownsville via US-281 or I-37. Our clinic is in the South Texas Medical Center — the same district as Methodist Hospital, University Hospital, and the UT Health campus.
How a visit works for out-of-town patients
Before you arrive: A phone or video call to review your medical history, establish goals, and schedule your diagnostics. We coordinate everything in advance so your time in San Antonio is efficient.
Your visit: The Foundation assessment typically requires two days. All diagnostic testing and your physician debrief happen during that window. If you're pursuing the Journey pathway, we structure your initial visit the same way, with ongoing management handled through a combination of remote check-ins and periodic in-person reassessment.
After you leave: You receive your Valincare Dossier — a comprehensive clinical document you can share with your local physician. Follow-up is conducted remotely until your next scheduled reassessment.
What this costs — and what it doesn't
Valincare is a direct-pay practice. We don't bill insurance for membership services. Prices are published and transparent. The Foundation assessment is $3,800. The Journey pathway — which includes longitudinal management, pharmacologic support, and six-month reassessment — is $7,600. We sell supplements at wholesale cost without markup. When your physician recommends something, there is no financial motive behind it.
For context: a single executive physical at a major academic medical center runs $3,000–$5,000 and gives you a standardized panel. Foundation gives you a Dossier built around your specific biology and a physician who spent 60 minutes interpreting it.
Questions we hear from Valley patients
Can I do everything in one trip?
Yes. The Foundation assessment is designed to be completed in one to two days. We schedule all diagnostics and your physician debrief within that window.
Is this covered by insurance?
Valincare membership services are not billed to insurance. This is deliberate — it allows us to order the tests your biology calls for, not the tests your plan approves. Some individual diagnostics (lab work, imaging) may be submitted to your insurance separately depending on your coverage.
How is this different from an executive physical at a hospital?
An executive physical gives you a standardized panel and a summary letter. Valincare gives you a physician-synthesized Dossier that interprets your results in the context of your specific risk profile, builds a longitudinal strategy, and tracks your trajectory over time. The difference is physician time, clinical depth, and continuity.
Will you work with my doctor in the Valley?
Yes. With your permission, we share your Dossier and recommendations directly with your primary care physician or specialist. We view ourselves as a complement to your existing care, not a replacement.
Do you offer Spanish-language consultations?
Yes. Our clinical team includes bilingual staff. Medical consultations can be conducted in Spanish.
Worth the drive.
A serious preventive assessment should tell you something your current care hasn't. If it doesn't, we haven't done our job.
